Coimbatore: For the first time in 34 days, Coimbatore district saw a negative growth rate of active Covid cases with the daily count on the decline. The district reported 3,061 cases on Wednesday, indicating that there was a reduction in active cases to 39,112 from 40,570 on Tuesday.

Covid analyst Vijayanand said that Coimbatore district has reached its peak and active cases have now reduced to 39,113 from 40,570. Over all, the district recorded 1,76,910 cases so far. Active cases were finally showing negative growth rate after 34 days with 10 days growth rate at 24 percent according to Vijayanand, Covid analyst.
Meanwhile Tamil Nadu on Wednesday recorded 25,317 cases, which according to the data available shows a steady decline in last few days, owing to the complete lockdown imposed by the TN Government.
There has been a decline in number of patients under treatment including home treatment from 2,96,131 to 2,88,702. With 32,263 persons discharged today, the State recorded 483 deaths, taking the overall tally to 25,205. Test positivity rate in the State stands at 14.52 percent with 1,74,329 samples tested today, according to Government data. The testing has been done consistently at 1.56-1.63 lakhs for Tamil Nadu and 30,000 for Chennai.
