Coimbatore’s Deputy Director of Health Services transferred amid the district reporting steady increase in fresh cases and ahead of CM’s visit
Coimbatore: As the Coimbatore district has been reporting highest number of fresh cases, becoming number one in the state for new coronavirus cases, the State health department on Saturday transferred G. Ramesh Kumar, who was the deputy director of health services monitoring the Covid related activities.
The move comes days after when the district started to report highest cases and after when the positivity rate tripled. However, his post, will be replaced by Senthil Kumar, DDHS of Theni.
Recently, the state government had appointed Sidhique, an IAS officer to monitor the Covid activities and to bring down the cases.
The move also comes day before when the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin scheduled to visit the district. The CM is visiting Coimbatore for the second time since assuming charge as the district shows no sign of decline in cases.
Stalin, however, will be visiting Erode, Salem and Tirupur too. G. Ramesh Kumar, former DDHS of Coimbatore refused to comment on it.
