Second dose of Covishield vaccine administered at 84 centers in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The second dose of Covishield vaccine is being administered to the public in 84 centers in Coimbatore.
Due to shortage of vaccines in Coimbatore district, the second dose was administered to the elderly first as a priority. 18,000 Covishield vaccine vials arrived on Wednesday in the city and hence the district administration decided to administer the second dose to those over 45 years of age.
Of these, 14,200 vaccines were administered in two installments at 84 centers in Coimbatore, Pollachi and Mettupalayam to only those over 45 years of age who had been vaccinated with Covishield in the past 81 days. For this, 200 vaccines each were sent to most of the centers and 500 vaccines to the main centers. Injections are being administered based on tokens in the city.
