Wait to vaccinate 18-plus citizens gets longer in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Even if the people now want to inoculate to escape from getting infected, they can not, as the health officials in Coimbatore await for proper guidelines to resume vaccination drive for 18-plus in the city.
Sources in the health department say that the district will soon roll out vaccination drives for the people above 18-plus after getting proper guidelines. On Thursday, the district received a consignment of vaccines to inoculate people aged above 18-plus as per the government order. Of this the health department officials say there are 43,900 Covishield doses and 7,800 Covaxin doses have been received to vaccinate beneficiaries.
Though the vaccination drive for 18-plus starts later than announced, the eagerness among the public to inoculate against the infection has gone up. It is said that the department had designated ten centres including Government Arts College, Government Mettupalayam Hospital, Government Periyanaickenpalayam Hospital among others for the inoculation. Awaiting clear standard operating procedures from the government, officials ask the public to not panic and added that all will benefit from the vaccine.
