TN Heath Minister issues guidelines for Covid-19 treatment; Urges public to refrain from self-medication or public steaming

CM issues guidelines for Covid-19 treatment and urges public to refrain from self-medication

Coimbatore: The Department of Health and Public Welfare, under the direction of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has formulated guidelines for the treatment of Covid-19 infections in accordance with the World Health Organization's medical protocols. The Chief Minister reiterated that the medical treatment for Covid-19 should be taken as per the guidelines issued by the Government and it is not advisable for the general public to take self-medication as it can turn life-threatening.

"The practice of compressed air steaming is now spreading among the general public. By doing this, the compressed air is likely to go through their mouth and affect their lungs. Not only this, when they open their mouths the virus is more likely to spread faster to those nearby. This is not considered medical treatment according to medical professionals. As soon as a person contracts Covid-19, the public should stop relying on home remedies for themselves and seek proper treatment from a doctor," advised M Subramaniam, Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Tamilnadu.

Minister M Subramaniam stated that special medical treatment is being conducted for Covid-19 patients all over Tamil Nadu. "Steaming with compressed air should not be used without a doctor's advice as it can directly affect the lungs. The medical system used at the Siddha Covid Care Center has set up a state government medical committee under the supervision of doctors and medical procedures are carried out as per the guidance. Therefore, the public is advised not to take self-medication following posts on social media," he reiterated.
