5040 people in home quarantine and 13,000 people hospitalized due to Covid-19 in Coimbatore district
Coimbatore: Even as hospitals in Coimbatore district grapple with the rising number of Covid-19 patients, about 5040 patients are being treated at home.
In hospitals, 12,997 people are being treated. In Coimbatore district, out of a total of 826 beds in Government Hospitals, 695 beds are in use. 131 are vacant, while there are a total of 902 beds with oxygen.
Of the 239 intensive care unit beds, 226 are in use and 13 are vacant. In the Government Temporary Treatment Centers, 1844 persons are receiving treatment. In the district, 541 normal beds, 26 beds with oxygen and 59 intensive care unit beds are vacant in Government-approved private hospitals.
Coimbatore District Collector S Nagarajan said, "In total, 3956 people are being treated in private hospitals. In private makeshift camps, 334 people are receiving treatment. A total of 12,997 people, including 9213 from Coimbatore and 3784 from other districts are being treated for Covid-19 at all hospitals, here."
