‘Healer’ Baskar spreads misinformation regarding the masks and oxygen; asks people to remove masks to improve oxygen supply

Coimbatore: ‘Healer’ Baskar who got into a problem for continually advocating pregnancy delivery without professional oversight, has again released a video spreading more misinformation.

While the state and central governments are combating the virulent spread of the COVID-19 virus by asking people to mask up regularly, wash hands and maintain social distance, Healer Baskar has released a video in the channel “Welcome Anatomic Astrology KP” claiming that wearing masks is detrimental to the oxygen supply to the body and that that is the reason for people gasping for oxygen due to COVID-19 infection.

He also claims that people are asked to wear masks and are being killed by keeping them in the ventilator in the video. And he challenges everyone that he will increase the oxygen level in the body in 30 minutes by removing the masks and keeping the patients under a fan.

What pseudoscience peddlers like Baskar don’t understand nor realise is that blood oxygen level is not related to the atmospheric oxygen that is all around us. Research after research has continuously proved that masking up will not reduce the intake of oxygen and reduces the spread of coronavirus drastically, pseudoscience propaganda artists like Baskar use social media and the lack of scientific intelligence among the common public to spread dangerous misinformation that will lead to public letting their guard down.

The video which was released today has become viral and hope the authorities will immediately take action on such pseudoscience peddlers quickly.

People are advised to not take such information seriously and follow the government and healthcare department guidelines as their go to standards.
