Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Officials have requested the public who are above the age of 45 and 65 to get vaccinated immediately.

Covid-19 virus has spiked recently with more than 250 people being infected on a daily basis. These infected people are getting treatment from Coimbatore Government Hospital, ESI hospital, primary health centres and private hospitals.

Further a new Covid-19 ward with 700 beds has been created in the Barathiar and Anna University campus in Coimbatore ahead of the recent 75% hike in Covid-19 cases.

District Corporation Officials said "it is essential for the public to get vaccinated especially for people above the age of 60 and people above the age of 45 with intensive health issues. Vaccines are available free of cost at all government hospitals and Primary Health Centres. Public must get themselves vaccinated to help themselves and others from contracting the virus. But vaccination around 40% of the Covid-19 spread can be contained."
