Baby dies hours after being administered with pentavalent vaccine in Coimbatore; cause of the death remains unknown

In a tragic incident in Coimbatore, a 2.5 month-old-baby dies hours after being administered with a pentavalent vaccine, which is put in protection against diphtheria, tetanus and cough etc.

In a tragic incident in Coimbatore, a 2.5 month-old-baby dies hours after being administered with a pentavalent vaccine, which is put in protection against diphtheria, tetanus and cough etc.

According to the family of the deceased, the baby was administered with the pentavalent vaccine at the Anganwadi in Masakalipalayam at 10:30 am in the morning and told to be crying since then.

The baby was then rushed to CMCH after being advised by the Uppilipalayam healthcare experts who treated the child for breathing problems.

While several other children who were administered with the same vaccine and found to have no complaints, officials say that the cause of the death will be declared soon after post-mortem.

Nearly 13 other children were administered with the same vaccine at the same centre, fortunately without any complaints.
