Covaxin doses likely to commence at CMCH from Monday


Coimbatore: A day after the administration of first doses of Covishield ended, the Covaxin, which is also a vaccine against corona virus arrived in the city on Saturday.

As many as 25,600 vials of covaxin had reached the Regional Vaccine store in the Deputy Director of Health Service’s office and is likely to be administered on people of their interest in CMCH.

Nearly 13,700 vaccines are allotted for Coimbatore in the 25,600 vaccines arrived. Close to 4,600, 4,900, 2,400 vaccines doses to be given for the Tirupur, Erode and Nilgiris district respectively.

Dean of CMCH Kalidas says that the first dose of the Covishield has commenced and added that over 36 members in CMCH took the jab on the last day.

Speaking on the arrival of Covaxin, Kalidas said that it will be administered to the people interested and added that at least 23 healthcare experts at CMCH administered with Covishield for first doses.

As many as 20 healthcare workers at CMCH received the second dose of Covishield.
