Tirupur: Covid-19 vaccine is made available across India since 16th of January. As a part of the vaccine drive, Tirupur is divided into 4 zones for smoother execution.
Around 13,500 vaccines have arrived in Tirupur and 400 people were scheduled to be vaccinated every day. But only 285 members have been vaccinated over the last two days.
Meanwhile Tirupur District Collector VijayaKarthikeyan got vaccinated today in a primary health care centre at Tirupur - Avinashi Road becoming the first District Collector to be vaccinated in Tamilnadu.
Post this Tirupur District Collector VijayaKarthikeyan met with the press and said that around 13,500 vaccines have arrived at Tirupur and that 4 camps have been set-up for smoother distribution.
He also asked the public to not believe in rumours and that the vaccinations are being done according to government guidelines.
Tirupur District Collector VijayaKarthikeyan then said that no side effects of Covid-19 vaccine has been reported and saidthat he volunteered for vaccination as an example to break the rumours of side effects.
After being vaccinated, District Collector Vijaya Karthikeyan was kept under doctor's supervision for a while before being discharged.
