Pistachio is a very famous and appetising superfood. It is a breed of cashew family. We have it as a snack, superfoods, decorating food, dry fruit, etc. It has enormous health benefits. Full of nutrients and good fats Pistachio or Pista are considered as one of the best superfoods. So, it is natural that consuming Pista is a great idea to make our health better. But you might not know that pistachio has its side effects too. If you consume this more than the required amount, there will be chances of having various health issues. Hence, this is just to alert you by telling all the health issues to happen by the side effects of pistachio.

Massive weight gain:

If you start eating a lot of pistachio in a day it would definitely backfire to your health. This superfood is enriched with a lot of fatty acids. However, these fats are good. But excessive consumption of any fat is not good for health, no matter they are good or harmful fats. Moreover, the high calorie present in Pista hampers your weight maintenance. 100 grams of pistachios can provide around 562 calories. Hence, you can understand how many calories you are getting per day even if you have half grams per day.

High blood pressure:

Natural pistachio is good for health. It does not contain a lot of sodium which is harmful to health. But when you eat roasted ones, the sodium level in your body moves higher than the required amount. Natural Pistas have around 0 to 2 mg sodium per ounce. Although, the level increases when you eat the roasted ones. The unfortunate part is, the roasted pasta is more appetising than the natural ones as they are rich in salts.

Gastric Problems:

Pistachios have dietary fibres which are quite beneficial for our stomach. They are essential in keeping our bowel movement smooth and giving relief from constipation problems. That is how they help us in good digestion. But they also contain a compound name “Fructan”. This compound is not harmful but it can bother those who are allergic to it. So, those who are allergic to Fructan should avoid eating pistachio. Otherwise, digestive problems like bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, flatulence and abdominal pain might start bothering you.

Risk of Kidney Stone:

Moderate consumption of pistachios is good for our health. It helps those who have kidney stones. Also, it helps those who are suffering from various kidney diseases. It contains a good amount of oxalates around 10 to 25 mg in per ounce. Consuming them in high quantity may increase the risk of development of calcium oxalate and cystine kidney stones. So, it is natural that eating in a limited amount of pistachio is great for health. But not in excess amount.
