Salmon

Salmon and other fatty fish are very good for the health of heart as they are the rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. The omega-3 fatty acids also lower the risk of arrhythmia and atherosclerosis and also decrease triglycerides. Therefore, it is recommended to eat fatty fish at least twice a week.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a rich source of fibre. The consumption of sufficient fibre also lowers the risk of cholesterol. Moreover, other whole grains like pasta and bread are also beneficial for the heart as they contain entire grain.

Blueberries

Not only blueberries but other berries are also good for the healthy heart as they lower the risk of heart attack. However, the berries also contain compounds like flavonoids and anthocyanins that may decrease blood pressure and dilate blood vessels.

Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate may be beneficial for the heart as it can reduce the risk of nonfatal heart attack and stroke. The dark chocolate also contains flavonoids called polyphenols which help blood pressure and inflammation.

Citrus fruits

Citrus fruits like orange and lemons are the rich source of vitamin C, which lowers the risk of heart disease. It advisable to avoid citrus juices that contain added sugar.

Soy

Soy products are good for the healthy heart as they are rich in protein without unhealthy fats and cholesterol. However, they also help in reducing blood pressure in people who follow a diet high in refined carbohydrates.

Nuts

Nuts like almonds, walnuts and peanuts are good for the heart as they are rich source Vitamin E, which helps to lower bad cholesterol.

Green tea

Regular consumption of green tea reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. The green tea contains antioxidants known as catechins which help to keep the heart healthy.

Green vegetables

Green vegetables like Broccoli, spinach and kale gives the extra boost to your heart. These vegetables are the rich source of carotenoids- which act as antioxidants which eliminate harmful compound from the body.
