Orange juice is the most common juice of all the time. From breakfast to evening snacks, we love to glue to a glass of orange juice. In fact, we all know how beneficial oranges are for our health. From providing a lot of vitamin C, vitamin A to folate and calcium, orange juice is extremely good for our health. But as we all know anything which is consumed too much is bad, the same goes with orange juice too. If you drink it to an extensive level, it causes various side effects in our body. Promotes weight gain:

Orange juice has reduced amount of fibre and that is why it cannot keep you full for a longer time. Other than that, if you drink orange juice excessively, it can regulate your blood sugar levels drastically. If the blood sugar level falls down, you end up feeling hungry and eat more food which leads to weight gain.

An increment of blood sugar level:

Orange juice can cause a gradual increment in your blood sugar level. It has a low glycemic index which increases the blood sugar. But if you consume it persistently it can cause high carbohydrate intake by increasing high blood sugar.

Dental problems:

Orange juice can harm your teeth by damaging its enamel. Our tooth enamel is very sensitive to acids. So, the acids present in orange juice reacts with the calcium in enamel and deteriorate it. Moreover, orange juice has sugar and invites bacteria to feast on the same. So, it can easily attack your teeth by bacterial interference.

Increases the risk of osteoporosis:

The vitamin C present in orange juice is necessary for adequate calcium metabolism in the body. A moderating limit can strengthen your bones. But, if this vitamin-C is consistently increasing and supplying to your bones, the bones may face problems. It can shell out more and more calcium for metabolism. This gradually increases the risk of osteoporosis.

Creates iron toxicity:

The absorption of iron in the small intestine is done by vitamin C. But if you drink orange juice excessively, the vitamin-C will lead to excessive iron absorption in the body, which can be detrimental to other organs like kidneys, liver, pancreas etc.
