5 ways to use malai (Milk Cream) for flawlessly smooth, soft and supple skin

Malai is a thick yellowish layer of fat and coagulated proteins that form a sticky film across the surface of the milk. This layer is skimmed off and is consumed directly, with sugar or as an ingredient in cooking. Malai makes way into so many of our dishes and desserts as well. Beyond the kitchens too, Malai has played a crucial role in beauty rituals for several Indian women since centuries. In fact, after haldiand besan, malai is said to be the most effective remedy for all the skin woes. The saturated fat content of malai helps fix the rough and dull skin. From treating tanned skin to nourishing dry skin, a simple malai face pack has got you covered.

Here's how you can use malai for a flawless skin

1. For Tanned Skin

Don't you just hate it when on a hot summery day, you head home and see your skin all damaged due to the harsh sun rays! Yes, the sunblock cream didn't do its job effectively, but that does not mean you leave the burn as it is. Make way for the cooling and nourishing malai. To get rid of the nasty tan, simply put malai on the face and allow it to stay for 10 minutes. Rinse it off with water. You can also make a thick paste of malai and besan and apply it onto your face gently. Do this at least twice a week for better results.

2. For Dry Skin

The natural homemade malai face pack can help you get rid of dry skin as well. Mix a tablespoon of milk cream with a tablespoon of honey and apply the pack on your skin. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Once it is done, rinse it off with water.

3. For a Glowing Skin

In addition to a soft and smooth skin, malai or milk cream can also help you get a radiant skin. Mix a tablespoon of malai with a tablespoon of gram flour or besan and leave it on for 20 minutes on your skin. You can also make a malai-turmeric face pack for a golden glow. Add a teaspoon of turmeric into a tablespoon of milk cream and apply on your skin. Rinse it off with water. Do this twice or thrice every week for better results.

4. Get Rid of Dead Skin

Malai works as a natural exfoliator and helps in eliminating the dead skin cells. For a nourished and vitalized skin, you can mix milk cream with oatmeal or breadcrumbs and rub it on your skin. Do so on all the parts of your skin that may have dead skin cell accumulation like elbow, neck, knee, leg and arm. Rub it gently for a few minutes and wash it off with cold water. For best results, do this twice every week.

5. Cleansing Skin

Malai can serve as a natural cleanser too. It can clean up clogged pores and removes accumulated dust over the skin. Massage your skin with a teaspoon of milk cream and lemon juice for a few minutes. Rinse it off with water with the use of cotton.
