District administration is hosting meetings and negotiating with stakeholders about Coimbatore Master Plan.
Coimbatore: Dr. G S Sameeran, District Collector, and Mr. Raja Gopal Sunkara, Commissioner, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation participated in an interactive session that was organised by The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore at its premises on Friday to discuss about the Coimbatore Master Plan.
While addressing the participating members of the association, Dr. G S Sameeran informed that the district administration is hosting meetings and negotiating with stakeholders about Coimbatore Master Plan. It was informed that the Government of Tamil Nadu will make official the Master Plan for Coimbatore within next 18 months. Meetings and discussions are being organised in this direction from time to time.
Stating that the Master Plan document is long sighted, Coimbatore district collector brought to light that the respective document will address the present and the future needs of the city up to 2041. The Master Plan will include representations made by stakeholders in sectors including industry and business among other sectors.
The aim is to transform Coimbatore into the economic capital of state of Tamil Nadu and also for South India. The district collector informed that at regular intervals, meetings, discussions and brain storming sessions are organised with representatives from various sectors to get their inputs that will be considered for inclusion in the Master Plan after being scrutinised.
Representatives from the Local Planning Authority through a presentation introduced the proposed Master Plan for Coimbatore. The presentation threw light on the opportunities offered by the various sectors including renewable energy, tourism, health, education, transport and industry among others.
Senthil Valavan, Director, Airport Authority of India, Coimbatore through a presentation briefed about the various concepts related to Coimbatore Airport, which can be considered for inclusion in the Master Plan.
Furthermore, participants in the interaction that followed offered their views and suggestions regarding scheme road, bypass road, ring road, rail infrastructure, residential areas, foundries, lakes, recreation, open spaces, walking space and elevated highways.
Balasubramanian, President of the Chamber welcomed the gathering. He assured that the chamber will support and co-ordinate with the district administration in all the initiatives it takes for early release of Master Plan for Coimbatore. The meeting had in attendance past presidents, office bearers, and members of the association.
