Coimbatore: Collector Sameeran has directed all schools in Coimbatore to charge only 40 per cent tuition fees till August 31.

He said in his order that private schools in Coimbatore should charge only 40 per cent of the tuition fees for 2020-21 till August 31. In a statement, he said, "Due to the corona epidemic, there are no direct classes in government, government-aided and private schools in Tamil Nadu.

In this context, in the academic year 2021-2022, there are complaints that private self-funded schools in the Coimbatore district are charging higher fees and parents of students are being forced to pay higher fees.

In this connection, the court has issued interim arrears to charge only 40 per cent of the tuition fees for the academic year 2020-2021 ending August 31 and 75 per cent of the tuition fees for the second phase ending February 29 next year at 35 per cent.

In the action letter of the Commissioner of School Education, Chennai, for the academic year 2021 - 2022, all types of private schools in Tamil Nadu should collect only 40% of the tuition fees till the end of August 31. It has been reported that 35 per cent will be charged within 2 months from the date of commencement of live classes and the remaining 25 per cent will be decided according to the prevailing situation regarding tuition fees.

Therefore, all self-funded schools in the district are required to charge only 40 percent of the fees for the 2021 - 2022 academic year ending August 31. No other fees, such as shoes, uniforms and vehicles, should be charged, other than the tuition fees set by the government.
