Gloves to be provided to voters at the polling station

Announcement to provide gloves to voters at the polling station.

Coimbatore: It has been announced to provide gloves to voters at the polling station. The Election Commission has taken various measures to curb the spread of coronavirus infection.

An important step in this is to increase the number of polling stations. Coimbatore District Collector K. Rajamani said that arrangements have been made to provide the voters with gloves to wear before using the voting machine and also sanitizers for disinfection.

Arrangements have been made to provide one-handed gloves to voters to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection by touching the voting machine with their bare hands. The government is urging the public to wear face masks. He said arrangements have been made to provide face masks to those who come without wearing face masks. Approximately ten thousand volunteers have been assigned to the 4,227 polling stations with 2 volunteers each to monitor the body heat of the voters at each polling station and to spray disinfectant on the hands and to assist the disabled.

In addition, personal protective equipment clothing will be provided to those working at the polling stations. Used PPE, gloves, etc. will be duly disposed of by medical waste disposal contractors after the voting is completed. He said an additional two personnel would be assigned to the vehicles to dispose of the medical waste.

Following that, the first phase of training will be given to 22,150 polling staff on March 13. Later, on the 26th, a sample voting exercise will be held and it will be determined on who will be posted in which constituency. For the second time on April 5, it would be decided in the presence of the Election Commission of India about which polling station the staff would be sent to.
