Post 'Covid-19' outbreak the flight service at the Coimbatore International Airport continues to witness a steady growth. While only 5 flights were operated during March 2020 on a daily basis, presently 20 flights are operated, every day.
In a major development, for the first time, the airport has got connectivity to North East. Indigo airlines which provides service to Kolkata has extended its service to Imphal and Bagdora, twice a week.
Commenring on this new development, R.Mahalingam, Airport Director of Coimbatore International Airport said that adding new service to North East -- Imphal and Bagdora is very much welcome. With the pandemic receding, all airlines are taking steps to boost their services. In the coming months, many airlines would extend additional services to various existing routes like Pune etc.
He added that presently on an average 20 flights are operated from Coimbatore airport, daily.
Kongu Global Forum(KGF) Director, D.Nanda Kumar said, "We are extremely delighted at the new flight service between Coimbatore and North East. The service to Bagdora will largely help passengers who are planning to go to Darjeeling and other parts of North East."
