‘Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana’ scheme extended for one more year


Coimbatore: ‘Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana’ scheme has been extended for one more year.

Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana is a welfare measure being implemented by the Employee's State Insurance (ESI) Corporation. It offers cash compensation to insured persons when they are rendered unemployed. The Scheme was introduced w.e.f. 01-07-2018. The scheme is implemented on pilot basis for a period of two years initially. The scheme has been extended upto 20 June 2021

ESIC has decided to extend this scheme for one more year till June 30, 2021. It has also been decided to relax the current conditions under the scheme to provide relief to workers who lost their jobs during the Coronavirus pandemic.

As per the relaxed conditions, the increased relief amount will be provided for the period from 24.03.2020 to 31.12.2020. Thereafter, the scheme will be continued with the previous conditions not relaxed for the period from 01.01.2021 to 30.06.2021.

Raguraman, Deputy Director, Coimbatore ESIC Charitable Office, said, "ESI is improving the quality of medical care and other services provided under the scheme with a view to the welfare of workers and employers."
