Coimbatore: Churches in Coimbatore can apply for government financial assistance to undertake repair and renovation activities, informed District Collector K. Rajamani. 

The TN government has a scheme under which financial assistance will be provided for churches, functioning in their own building, for repairs and renovation. The churches will be provided financial assistance from the allocated Rs. 5 crores, under the Minority welfare department for 2020-21. The church should've been functioning for more than 10 years, on it's own premises to avail this fund. The place should be a registered land with the Land Registrar. The church should also be a registered entity and it must not have received any funds from abroad for any of its repair activities. Certificates for this must also be provided, to get financial assistance under this scheme. 

To obtain Financial assistance under this scheme, the application forms can be taken from the website [email protected]. Annexure I&III must be completed and submitted along with necessary documents at the District Collectorate. The District Backward classes and Minority Welfare Office is located on te second floor of the District Collectorate. The form can also be obtained at the office. 

A team designated by the District Collector will review the building plan of the church and the project cost and based on the merit of the building. It will them be sent to the Minority welfare Directorate for financial assistance, with a proposal by the District Collector. The funds will transferred online to the account of the church in two installments. 

The District Collector advised all the fathers of the churches to take this opportunity, to repair and renovate their churches, with financial assistance.
