Coimbatore: In a recent announcement by the Directorate of School education, the half-yearly holidays for government and government-aided schools has been extended from January 2 to January 3, 2020. Schools will reopen on January, 4, 2020 (Saturday).
The move comes after the teachers deputed for election duty petitioned to revise the opening date, as counting date for rural local body polls falls on January 2, 2020.
Since, the counting will take place manually, the teachers pointed that the counting could get delayed hence it would be difficult for them to attend schools on January 3, 2020 which was the reopening date, earlier.
Vote counting process for rural local body polls will be held in two phases on December 27 and 30, across designated government and government aided schools.
