However this unorganized sector had added a lot of lustre to the lives of students. Those were times when our country had lost its educational power due to colonial exploitation and the resultant impoverishment had turned people ignorant over time. Therefore there was a pressing need to seek a home tutor. The situation has changed these days. Students who need attention and the ones seeking to compete for ranks are the ones who seek private tutors. The town is full of private tuition centres and also home tutors.
AKSHARAM is a home tuition service provider. This startup was founded by R.Aravind ( Founder & CEO ) in 2018. 22 year old Aravind has done his M.Sc ( Maths ) from Government Arts College in Coimbatore. He has been in Coimbatore for the past 5 years. This native of Rajapalayam was born to Rajamayil and Saraswathi. Aksharam offers personalized tutoring for the students who wish to pursue their education from the undisturbed luxury of their homes. "We have 530 teachers registered with us and 130 home tuitions are going on right now. Yes, each teacher goes to the house of the student 20 times a month. Each session lasts for 2 hours. We choose the teachers based on educational qualification, attitude, communication skills, teaching ability, behavior, child care activities, patience etc., Aksharam collects relevant personal details in order to ensure a safe and seamless process. The photos, identification proof, application form, bio data etc., have to be submitted to us. We share the details to the parents of the kids who seek our services. Well, I began this venture while pursuing my post graduate programme. I was able to accumulate the teachers as resource persons with the aid of the social media, promotions, on line advertisements and also references from teachers. It took us over a month to do the interviews," stated Aravind while talking about his startup.
Aravind is all humility while sharing further details, "It took us 2 months to accumulate the list of teachers. We had planned for 6 months totally. A charge is paid to Aksharam and it pays the teachers in turn. I am a district level shuttle player and a state level volley ball runner up. My contacts from the sports circles helped me to go ahead in this venture. My investment has been a sum of Rs.50000. Otherwise the startup capital is zilch. Advertisements were given in Sulekha, Justdial, Urbanpro and Quikr. The rented office is located at Hanudev Infotech Park. Our website is under construction. The facebook page is called 'Aksharam Home Tuitions '. I use the social media platforms like facebook and WhatsApp for developing my business," smiled Aravind.
Aksharam is run and managed by Aravind. He hopes to take his venture to Bengaluru, Chennai, Nilgiris, Salem, Erode and other places at an appropriate time. He hopes to offer full time employment to people during the course of time. Of course 130 teachers are already in the loop. Aksharam offers NEET coaching, CAT coaching, CA from the home level, Yoga for homemakers, spoken Hindi, English, French and German too. All subjects are taught up to the college level.
Aravind spoke about a number of issues and his goals too, "There are 23 places in Coimbatore where untouchability is present. I want to take education to those places. Anti Hindi thinking affects the poor a lot. I want to provide optional Hindi education free of cost to the socially and financially deprived sections of the society. Sai IAS Academy and Aksharam are hoping to offer free IAS coaching to these sectors absolutely free of cost. Most of the private coaching centres offering classes for IAS, Group I, Group II, TNPSC Exams, SSB, SSC, Army Selections, Police Recruitments etc., are charging a minimum of Rs.25,000. The poor are not able to afford this cost. We pay the fees for these students and they offer their services as tutors for six months absolutely free through Aksharam. At the moment 2 students from this segment are in this plan. We have a vision. Kids are addicted to technology all the time. Education can be done with the aid of technology. Instead of learning from a technology platform, the kids can learn through a teacher directly and the tutor / mentor is there to guide the kid. The tutor can teach morals, hygiene, ethics while also enabling them to have a nice vision for their future and their country too," added Aravind.
The youngster is the State Joint Secretary of the Akil Bharat Vidyarthi Parishad. His role models are Swami Vivekananda and Ritesh Agarwal ( Founder - OYO Rooms ). Aravind wants to earn money, create wealth in order to serve the nation. "We have to first create wealth in order to distribute it. Ours is a high volume, low margin model for it was founded in the interest of the teaching community. Thanks to technology - employment, education and entrepreneurship are taking place in the service sector at one go. I am grateful to my friends and family for their co operation. My role as a member of INDICA has helped me to meet a number of authors and thinkers who are interested in the progress of the individual through the progress of the nation. I wish to be a nationalist and patriot who is trying to serve his country and its people," stated the bright youngster.
