As soon as the app was launched, several HDFC bank customers had taken to Twitter to complain about the issue they were facing in using the app. Users shared screenshots of the pop-up message reading "Sorry, we are experiencing heavy load. Please use net banking. Regret the inconvenience." In another screenshot shared on Twitter said, "Sorry, Something went wrong. Kindly try after some time.
As per several users, the old app from the HDFC Bank was also taken down from Google Play and Apple App Store soon after the announcement, leaving them helpless.
Following the backlash, the bank has acknowledged the problem and said that it is due to the extreme heavy traffic. The Bank posted an apology on Twitter that reads:
Launched earlier this week at the HDFC Bank's annual Digital Innovation Summit 2018 (DIS) in New Delhi, the next-gen mobile app was made available for both Android and iOS users. The app even offered bio-metric login with fingerprint and facial recognition -- for iPhone X -- for enhanced security. The app gave customers a dashboard that offers a 360 degree financial snapshot of all assets and liabilities with the bank. For a more user-friendly UI, the app also allowed users to customize profile pictures like any social media channel.
