Each person is allotted 15GB of free storage on his/her Google Drive account, which also includes backups of messages and media from WhatsApp. But from 12 November onwards, your Google Drive’s total storage will not include the space occupied by backed up WhatsApp messages, letting you keep them on the drive for free.
This feature comes after Google and WhatsApp have joined hands to make storage access easier for users. For those who haven’t backed up their WhatsApp data on Google Drive, WhatsApp has asked users to backup messages before 12 November.
On its part, the Google Drive team is sending mails to its users, informing them about the change, which definitely is good news for those having a hard time managing space on the Drive.
