Google announces files to go, takes on shareIt

Google has announced a new Files To Go app to share and manage files on Android. The company has been very quick with the launch as only a few days ago the app was spotted on Play Store in a closed beta program and later on was quickly removed. The app is now available in beta phase on the Play Store.

Android user's with their device running Android 5.0 or above can download the app from the Play Store now. It is free of cost, contains no ads or in-app purchases. Google claims that the app can clean up your phone's space and keep it organized. The app takes less than 6MB of your phone's storage.  Files To Go recommends you to remove the rarely-used apps from your phone to improve its speed. It can recognize the spam and duplicate images and help your phone get rid of it. You can also find your important photos, videos, and documents faster via Files To Go. It also enables you to share the files offline- quickly and securely. The app may be unstable for now as it is still under beta test.

The app basically aims to create larger free space on your phone by deleting span and files that you don't need. To share any image or document via Files To Go, go the Files Tab and simply tap on the Send button. A list of people nearby will be displayed.  Just select the name from the list and share your files. To make the app work, it is important that both sender and receiver should have the app installed on their phones.

Google's Files to Go will compete with the files sharing app ShareIt and Apple's AirDrop feature. First launched in China in 2012, ShareIt is a free file sharing app from Lenovo that claims to transfer files, photos, and videos at a speed 200 times faster than the Bluetooth. Apple's Airdrop is not an app like the Files To Go or ShareIt. It is rather a file sharing feature present in Apple devices used to transfer files between the Apple devices. All the three work on WiFi and require no internet connectivity.
