After weeks of leaks and teasers, the gaming laptops major Razer has finally unveiled its first-ever smartphone. Called Razer Phone, the Android-based smartphone sports top-end specifications as claimed by many leaks in the past few days.
The smartphone is available for pre-order in the US at $699 and will start shipping from November 17.
Aimed at gamers, Razer Phone sports a 5.7-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) IGZO LCD display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and Wide Colour Gamut (WCG). The front panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Since the Razer Phone is a handset made for gamers, it comes with the best mobile processor available in the market - octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, clubbed alongside 8GB RAM and Adreno 540 GPU.
It includes 64GB UFS inbuilt storage, which is decent enough to store several heavy gaming apps.
However, if for some reason users fall short of space, they can always use a microSD card to ramp up the storage space up to 2TB.
Talking about the camera, the Razer Phone has dual rear cameras to let users get the best out of photography. There is a 12MP f/1.75 wide-angle sensor along with a 13MP f/2.6 zoom sensor at the back. Both include PDAF and come with dual tone LED flash. At the front users get an 8MP fixed-focus f/2.0 sensor.
Besides the 120Hz Ultramotion display, Razer has also put a focus on the smartphone's dual front-facing speaker with dual amplifiers and Audio Adapter with THX certified DAC. The gaming company has also included it's Game Booster feature that lets users customise the gaming experience on the smartphone. They can take control of the frame rates, notification alerts, CPU clock speed and more.
Backing the Razer Phone is a 4000mAh lithium-ion battery that also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. Connectivity features stay the same like in other smartphones - Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, NFC, LTE and GPS. Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Razer Phone is rather heavy at 197 grams as compared to others in the same segment. It measures 158.5x77.7x8mm.
