CCMC Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara requested all those who need to take the second dose of the vaccination against Covid-19 and those who have not been vaccinated, as well as those eligible to be vaccinated against the Omicron variant of Covid-19 to avail the Camp.
Coimbatore: As per the order of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the 19th Mega Vaccination Camp against Covid-19 will be held on January 22 from 9 am to 5 pm at 212 centers in Coimbatore Corporation area.
According to the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer, Raja Gopal Sunkara, over 94 percent of the Coimbatore Corporation area has been vaccinated for the first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19. 1,08,000 persons above the age of 18 years have not yet been vaccinated. They have been encouraged by the CCMC Commissioner to avail the opportunity that the 19th Mega Vaccine Camp provides.
2,13,000 people are eligible for the second dose of the vaccination against Covid-19. Those who have completed 84 days after the first dose of the Covishield vaccine and 28 days after Covaxin are eligible for the second dose. The infection is reportedly prevented from getting worse for those who have had both doses of the vaccine administered to them.
In addition, the Department of Public Health has announced that only those who have taken both doses of the Covid jab will be allowed in theatres, malls and other public places.
With the onset of the third wave of Covid-19 and the new variant Omicron which is reportedly spreading rapidly from South Africa, travellers from abroad have been advised to undergo RT-PCR testing at the airports and be isolated in their homes for 14 days after arrival in India.
According to the Directorate of Public Health, 95 percent of deaths in the last three months are due to non-vaccination. "In addition, the number of fresh Covid-19 cases are rising twice as high, per day. Hence, all those who have not been vaccinated and those who are eligible for the second dose of vaccination against Covid-19 should attend the camp and get 100 percent protection from the virus,†stated the CCMC Commissioner.
