Coimbatore: Covid-19 vaccination initiatives in Tamil Nadu have been extensive, with 26.11 lakh people over 18 years of age having been administered the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 19.34 lakh people with the second dose of the vaccine in Coimbatore district.
Thus, 93.6 percent over 18 years of age have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 68 percent with the second dose of the vaccine. Aiming to vaccinate a complete 100 percent of the population by December, special camps are being conducted across the city.
As per the order of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Mega Vaccination Camps have been conducted in Coimbatore district since September 12 and thus far 14 Mega Covid-19 Vaccination Camps have been conducted and completed. Through this, 12.8 lakh people have been vaccinated against Covid-19. The 15th Mega Covid-19 Vaccination Camp is scheduled to be held on December 18 and extensive arrangements have been made.

It was also instructed that in market areas, supermarkets, theaters and other places of entertainment, schools, colleges, playgrounds, restaurants, owners have been advised to ensure customers are vaccinated with both doses. The unions have appointed monitoring officers for the purpose. Therefore, the District Collector has requested the public to be vaccinated in these camps to protect themselves.
