Coimbatore: Around 1.64 lakh children will receive polio drops at the Polio Immunisation Program to he held in Coimbatore on January 31.
The National Polio immunisation programme, as part of which children in the age group of 0-5 years are administered polio drops, was rescheduled from January 17 to 31st, due to ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive.
According to district health officials, as part of the nation-wide mass polio immunisation program, a total of 346 immunisation locations including Government/ Private Hospitals, Corporation Primary Health Centers, Private Schools, Anganwadi Centers, Rotary Club-run camps have been ear-marked for administering polio drops.
Additionally, five special camps and three mobile centers are to be set up at railway station and bus stands, for the benefit of passengers with children. Anganwadi staff, school and college students, activists, charities and volunteers from rotary clubs will be involved for administering the doses.
The target is to provide drops to one lakh 64 thousand 251 children on January 31, and eradicate polio.
