Minister SP Velumani inaugurated the Pongal Gift distribution at the Ration Shop in Kempatty Colony

Coimbatore: Minister SP Velumani inaugurated the Pongal Gift distribution at the Ration Shop in Kempatty Colony, Coimbatore this morning. He then presented Rs. 2500 along with Pongal gift items to the public.

Minister SP Velumni said, "The Pongal gift package is being distributed to 10,11,845 families in Coimbatore district. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has increased the Pongal prize money to 2500 rupees due to the crisis of the people during the Coronavirus period. Initially only a piece of sugarcane was given in the Pongal set. Now the Chief Minister has ordered to provide the full cane. This Pongal gift package is being given to 2.6 crore families across Tamil Nadu. When Jayalalithaa was the Chief Minister, she started this gift package scheme by giving 100 rupees. The Chief Minister has ordered to provide 2500 rupees considering the current crisis situation of the people as became a Chief Minister by being one among them."

He added, "Among those who come to politics from the same family, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is serving the people by putting an end to family politics. He is very humble and has even drank tea from huts. There is a mob that wants to somehow stop giving 2500 rupees to the people. All will receive 2500 rupees despite these obstacles. I will be going to Sabarimala and will pray to the Lord for all."

Speaking to the reporters he said, "The Chief Minister has announced a Pongal gift of Rs. 2500 for each family. The Chief Minister has allocated Rs 269.83 crore for the Pongal package for Coimbatore district alone. Even we did not expect the Chief Minister to pay 2500 rupees. Kalaignar's son M.K. Alagiri who promised not to lie has said that MK Stalin will never get to be the Chief Minister and that is what is going to happen. Edappadi will definitely be the next Chief Minister.``
