New year celebrations on roads, hotels banned. Over 1500 police officials assigned at the Coimbtore City to patrol during New year's eve.
Coimbatore: New year's eve in Coimbatore is usually celebrated in the most extravagant way. Every year during the New year's eve 5-star hotels, pubs, bars and at Malls in Coimbatore will be beautifully decorated to welcome the new year ahead. Roads like Avinashi Road and Palakkad main roads will be filled with crowds celebrating and welcoming the new year.
However this year the new year preparations have already begun but in a dull way as the Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani IAS has ordered the closing of all entertainment venues in Coimbatore at 10 pm on 31st night.
In a press release issued by the Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani he said that " Due to the expected large gatherings and overcrowdings at hotels, restaurants, roads and entertainment venues to celebrate the 2021 New year at midnight, there is a high chance in the spread of Covid-19.
This can certainly cause an increase in the spread of the deadly disease which is currently maintained under control by the district officials. With a new strain of Covid-19 virus spreading in different countries it is mandatory for us to take preventive measures.
With regards to the massive health situation of the public all restaurants, hotels, 5star hotels, pubs, bars and other entertainment venues are odered to be shut from celebrating the new year's eve." said the district collector.
In his press release District Collector Rajamani said that severe actions will be taken against any organization violating the protocols.
He also said that to ensure the protocols being followed special monitoring teams under the sub collector will be placed at every zone of the city.
District Collector Rajamani also said that over 1500 police officials are in duty to take care of the safety measures that are advised by the district officials. He also said that cars, bikes will be seized if seen roaming the streets unwantedly.
He also said that youngsters and public must celebrate the beginning of the new year keeping in mind the seriousness of Covid-19 pandemic which is not over yet.
While shops and other centres are being closed tomorrow after 10 pm tomorrow, Churches in Puliyakulam, Trichy Road, Brookebond road and Townhall are to be open for special prayers and mass services to celebrate and begin the New Year.
The prayers at the churches are to be proceeded with maximum police protection. The police authorities have planed to catch and make the people who drink and drive and others who are wandering the streets for the entire night with them.
So it is a kind request from us to the public to prevent accidents and Covid-19 spread from happening this New Year's eve and to understand and respect the measures taken by the district officials and police officials.
