A new scam were the caller is pretending to be a railway official has been dialing-in recently!
Coimbatore: Railway Ministry has warned against fraudsters who call requesting you card details to check the cancellation or refund of the ticket. This scam is said to be happening for a longer time now.
Over 3,400 trains were stopped due to the pandemic lockdown since March 25th. With recent bookings open for trains across cities since September and people are choosing up the cities.Cash has been to the account were it was paid from for the cancelled ones.
For people who booked at the railway station the amount is being refunded from June 3rdat the railway station were it was booked.
Meanwhile s new group of scammers have been reported calling people and asking them for ATM details and others bank details to initiate the refund for the payment made both online and offline.The railway authorities have cleared the air on this issue and asked the user's not to give away any bank related details.
When asked about this a southern railway officer said that "the debited amount from the bank account will be credited automatically to your bank account when you made your booking online."
He also said that southern railway gets repeated complaintsthat users get calls from Southern Railways asking for details about debit or credit card number, cvv number, Date of birth etc. He also warned against telling such fraudsters such crucial derails and has asked the user's to register a complaint at the number 138 to file your complaints.
