Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation has removed more dustbins in the central zone. 90 garbage bins kept in public places in Coimbatore Central Zone have been removed.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation has removed more dustbins in the central zone. 90 garbage bins kept in public places in Coimbatore Central Zone have been removed.
The Corporation plans to set up micro-fertilizer compost centers at more than 60 locations in the city to reduce the amount of garbage being transported to the Vellalore landfill.
Accordingly, the work has been completed in more than 25 places. Composting is being done in more than 5 places including Kavundampalayam.
Meanwhile, the work of going house to house and collecting compostable and non-compostable garbage is being intensified by the employees of the corporation. Of these, biodegradable waste is sent to microbial composting centers and non-compostable waste is sent to the Vellalore landfill.
The corporation plans to remove more than 1,200 garbage bins placed in public places in the city as the rubbish is segregated at home.
As part of this, 90 rubbish bins placed in public places in the Central Zone in Coimbatore have been removed.
A corporation official said, "We have removed 90 of the 300 garbage disposal bins in the Central Zone. We are sprinkling flowers and decorating the place where the garbage bin wWA thus avoiding the dumping of rubbish in the area. As the garbage is segregated by the people, 4 tonnes of compostable waste is sent daily from the Central Zone to the Micro Fertilizer Production Center at Variety Hall Road"
