Areas under Coimbatore Corporation have received light to moderate rains during the last few days. The rain may continue for another day or two. Therefore, many places are being desilted and maintained. The corporation administration is carrying out the task of removing stagnant rainwater immediately from the road.
In areas such as the Railway Tunnel, Lanka Corner, Avinashi Road Overpass, and Kikkany Overpass, rainwater is disposed of from time to time. In addition, damaged roads are being identified and repaired.
Similarly, trees that have fallen due to rains are being disposed of immediately by the corporation. Work is underway to remove blockages in all sewerage canals.
In addition, notices have been issued under Section 327 of the Coimbatore Corporation Act, 1981 for buildings in a dangerous condition within the boundaries of the Corporation. So far 81 buildings have been identified and notices have been issued. Of these, 19 buildings have been demolished.
Similarly, notice will be issued by the corporation to vacate the buildings which are already in a dangerous condition. Those who have not yet vacated will have to vacate by 20.11.2020. In case those buildings are not vacated, they will be sealed with the help of the police from 21.11.2020, the corporation administration said.
