Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector has issued an order that E-pass system will be mandatory for tourists going to Valparai and only 400 vehicles will be allowed per day.
The district administration is making various efforts to control the corona epidemic in Coimbatore district. In this situation, Valparai is a major tourist destination that attracts a lot of visitors from Coimbatore and adjoining districts, thereby increasing the risk of rise in infections.
Following this, a check-post has been set up by the health department to monitor vehicles traveling to Valparai as traffic is increasing day by day due to the tourists who are eager to visit Valparai.
The Coimbatore District Collector inspected the Aliyar Forest Department check post today.
Later, he told reporters, "The number of corona infections has been declining in the last 10 days. Awareness work is being carried out actively in the Corporation and Municipal areas in the Coimbatore district. The district administration is taking steps to ensure public self-protection and vigilance.
Pollachi, Anaimalai and Valparai areas have low incidence of the disease, but the number of tourists visiting Valparai is increasing. Thus, to prevent the spread of corona infection, out-of-district travelers visiting Valparai from today must obtain E-passes. Only 400 vehicles per day will be allowed to Valparai."
