The Coimbatore Corporation has permitted road side vendors to function from tomorrow provided they follow the Corporation issued guidelines.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation has permitted road side vendors to function from tomorrow provided they follow the Corporation issued guidelines.
A notice issued by the Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer J. Shravan Kumar has granted permission to roadside shops and vendors to reopen and begin functioning from tomorrow, provided they follow the various COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government.
The following measures are to be followed by them:
1. All street vendors must wear face masks.
2. The shops can function from 7 AM to 7 PM.
3. The vendors must ensure that the customers who visit their shops are wearing face masks. They are also expected to advise those who arrive at the shops, without face masks, to wear one.
4. They must ensure that the shops are maintained hygienically by by spraying disinfectants everyday.
5. No more than two or three shop attendants may function in any of the shops.
6. Crowding around the shops must be avoided.
7. Vendors must ensure that social distancing norms are maintained by the customers.
8. A distance of two meters must be maintained between two adjacent road side shops.
9. No customer must be permitted to eat near the road side shop. Only parcels can be provided.
10. The vendors are requested to conduct digital transactions using PAYTM, Google Pay or PhonePE, whenever possible.
11. Goods from shops that do not maintain social distancing will be confiscated and shopkeepers found without face masks will risk the cancellation of their licences.
12. No elderly people must be employed in shops and the shop must not be opened if the vendor finds himself/herself suffering from fever, cough or cold. Additionally, they must get themselves checked at the nearest health care center or government hospital immediately.
The shops will be permitted to function if and only if the above mentioned rules are followed. Failure to follow these rules will lead to the cancellation of the licence of the shopkeeper and the goods will be confiscated.
The Corporation Commissioner further requested the support and cooperation of the people and the roadside vendors for the various measures taken by the corporation to prevent the spread pf COVID-19.
