Coronavirus: Latest announcement by Chief Minister on preventive measures

Coimbatore: All educational institutions including schools and colleges will remain closed from March 17 to 31. However, 10th and 12th grade exams will be held as planned.


Coimbatore: All educational institutions including schools and colleges will remain closed from March 17 to 31. However, 10th and 12th grade exams will be held as planned. 

-Medical Colleges and Medical centres will be functional 

- All government offices will be functional.

- All tourist resorts, amusement parks, zoos, museums, entertainment hubs, malls, sports condo, gyms, swimming pools, TASMAC bars will remain closed.

- Religious entities should refrain from conducting large gatherings and prayer meetings. 

- Public are advised to avoid unnecessary travel to nearby districts or States. As Schools have been declared holidays, parents must not plan for vacations untill March 31. 

- Permission denied for all public gatherings, meetings, and protests. 

- People should refrain from holding parties and get togethers, unnecessarily. 

-. Wedding halls those who have already taken bookings are permitted to hold weddings as planned, however new bookings should not be taken until March 31. 

- Functions including obituaries must be conducted in a simplified manner with small crowds.

- People should use sanitisers and wash their hands frequently after touching any surface or any place. Especially, people should not touch their face without thoroughly cleaning their hands. 

-Elderly citizens, children and those people with low immune system should definitely avoid going to crowded places. They should preferably stay indoors.

- If any symptoms of Coronavirus is present, public should immediately attend to a doctor and reveal their travel history. 

- Those who spread unwarranted information about Coronavirus and create pandemonium among the people will be booked under National Disaster Management Act 2005.
