Coimbatore: In a bid to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the Salem division of Southern railways have taken a plethora of precautionary measures including pasting of trilingual awareness posters inside the coaches, playing video clips of do's and dont's of Coronavirus at all railway platforms among others.
Coimbatore: In a bid to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the Salem division of Southern railways have taken a plethora of precautionary measures including pasting of trilingual awareness posters inside the coaches, playing video clips of do's and dont's of Coronavirus at all railway platforms among others.

Information, Education & Communication (IEC) material (Posters and Pamphlets) regarding coronavirus (COVID -19) are being prominently displayed for awareness of the general public at all railway stations and inside the train. Awareness pamphlets have been distributed to passengers by a team of officers and staff at all railway stations of Salem division.

Factual information to prevent Coronavirus is being disseminated to passengers and all the employees, contract staff, stakeholders etc.
Trilingual posters indicating instructions, Do’s & Don’t etc and banners are exhibited at prominent locations in and around the station. The announcement, video clips have been played through TVs provided at all platforms of Salem division 24/7.
In railway hospitals of Salem division, isolation beds for fever-related cases for treating suspected Coronavirus with the availability of necessary protective gears have been arranged.
An exclusive medical team has been nominated at all major stations in 24/7 to ensure the precautionary measures provided in Railway stations to passengers.
Cleanliness of Station and Work areas

The station and work areas are maintained neat and tidy. Availability of water has been ensured in all water taps round the clock across Salem division. Disinfectants are used liberally during cleaning.

Frequent and regular cleaning of locations, which are regularly touched by passengers like door handles, windows, handrails, handrails of escalators and lifts, enquiry/ticket counter areas, the armrest of chairs, water taps, sanitary fittings, door latches, tower bolts etc with disinfectants is followed. Sanitizer/liquid soap in dispensable containers has been provided in all the staff rooms/ restrooms, waiting halls, paid AC waiting hall, pay & use toilets etc.
