Coronavirus: Consuming eggs, chicken, meat and fish completely safe, clarifies Ministry Animal Husbandry

Coimbatore: Responding to the rising fake information linking meat consumption to Coronavirus, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandary has reassured that consuming eggs, chicken, meat and fish are completely safe. The Ministry has urged the people to stop spreading fake information regarding Coronavirus.

Coimbatore: Responding to the rising fake information linking meat consumption to Coronavirus, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandary has reassured that consuming eggs, chicken, meat and fishare completely safe. The Ministry has urged the people to stop spreading fake information regarding Coronavirus. 

Even the State President of Tamil Nadu Poultry and Egg Producers Association have requested the Central and State governments to clarify to the public that meat consumption is safe and has no connection with Coronavirus infection. 

Addressing the media today, Giriraj Singh and the MoS (Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying) Sanjeev Kumar Balyan informed that, "Messages are spreading through the social, print and electronic media stating that consumption of eggs and chicken meat may spread corona virus infection to the human being. This kind of message has created panic amongst the poultry farmers, industries and consumers. Because of this misleading information, the sale of eggs and chicken meat has drastically suffered and millions of poor farmers dependent on poultry farming are under threat of losing their livelihood."

He added that the departments continuously keep vigil on the corona virus situation in the country and across the world. So far, it has been noticed that the predominant route of transmission of Novel Corona Virus (2019-nCov) appears to be human interaction. The virus is transmitted from human to human. 

The Ministry has also announced of a 24/7 control room, 011-23978046 to clarify doubts on Coronavirus.
