Coimbatore: Applications are invited from Private Charitable Organizations to start Destitute Old Age Homes and Integrated Complexes for orphan children with grants from the Central and State Governments, informed the District Collector K. Rajamani in a press note.

Under the Social Welfare Department, Old Age Homes, Integrated Complexes for orphan children and Swadhar homes are approved with grants from the Central and State Governments. New proposals from private charitable organizations are being called for to undertake Destitute Old Age Homes.
"Destitute old age and integrated orphan children's home receive 75% funding from the State governement and 25% from the Private charitable organization, with a maximum occupancy of 25 old people and 25 children. Where, the Old age homes under the Senior Citizens Scheme of the Central Government are funded 60% by the Central and 40% by the State, and should have minimum 25 old people", according to the release.
However, Swadhar homes under the Swadhar Scheme with 60% funds from the Central government and 40% funds from the State government can accomodate 30 women.
Registration certificates and renewed certificates from - Trust Act / Company Law Association Act, Care and welfare act for parents and senior citizens 2007 from the district social welfare office, building stability from PWD, Sanitation department, fire department, building ownership from Taluk Office, non- funded by any foreign funds for the operation of the old age home. And, Juvenile Justice Act 2006 certificate for the Destitute Old Age Homes and Integrated Complexes for orphan children are mandatory.
For establishing new Old age homes and Destitute Old Age homes and integrated orphanage complexes, the above mentioned certificates and applications must be submitted at the District Welfare Office before 5 pm of November 30, 2019.
