The Tamil Nadu agricultural university (TNAU) has recently launched an initiative to extend handholding for technical support,market and financial linkage, GI registration, etc. Under this initiative, so for 112 FPOs have been identified and adopted by different units of TNAU.
Coimbatore: MoU Signing Ceremony for the TNAU-FPO Linkage (TFL). Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is launching novel attempts to solve the difficulties confronting Tamil Nadu farmers.
The TNAU-FPO linkage (TFL) programme is one of the innovative initiatives. Prof. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU, encouraged all TNAU units to form a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) to provide technical assistance, market and financial linkage, GI registration, and other services. As a result of this program, 112 FPOs have been identified and adopted by various TNAU units.

On April 12, 2023, at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore, an MoU signing event with 14 FPOs was held in order to move this effort forward on solid ground. Two Directors and the Chairman of the FPOs served as representatives. To better understand the challenges faced by FPOs in the development and operation of their organizations, the vice chancellor of TNAU engaged in detailed interaction with the office holders of FPOs.
For a greater return, she underlined the significance of branding and selling FPO products. She also urged each FPO to sign up for the university's upcoming online marketing platform.
Program coordination was handled by Dr. D. Suresh Kumar, Director of the Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS) and Nodal Officer for TNAU-FPO linkage. The group was congratulated by Dr.V. Balasubramani, the controller of examinations, and Dr.P.P. Murugan, director of extension education. The motion for thanks was made by Dr. C. Velavan, Professor (ARM).
