TNAU organised the 29th annual review meet of AICRP on weed management

TNAU ORGANISED THE 29th ANNUAL REVIEW MEET OF AICRP ON WEED MANAGEMENT

All India Coordinated Research Project on Weed Management unit at the Department of Agronomy, Directorate of Crop Management, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore in coordination with the ICAR- Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur has organised the 29th Annual Review Meet of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Weed Management at TNAU.

In valedictory session of the Annual Review Meet (27.05.2022), Dr. J.S Mishra (Director of DWR, Jabalpur), Dr. R.P.Dubey (Principal Scientist and Incharge, AICRP-WM, DWR, Jabalpur), Dr. Bhaskar (ADG Agroforestry and Climate change ICAR, New-Delhi ), Dr. E. Somasundram (Director of

Agri. Business Management, TNAU), Dr. S. Panneerselvam (Head, Department of Agronomy, TNAU), Dr. P. Murali Arthanari (Principal Investigator, TNAU), Veteran weed management scientist of ICAR and TNAU, Principal Investigators and scientists of various AICRP- Weed Management centres from different parts of the country, scientists and students of TNAU have participated.

In the valedictory function of annual review meet, Dr. E. Somasundram (Director of Agri. Business Management, TNAU) explained about organic weed management, Natural farming, resource conservation technologies, Multivarietial seed technique, Bio- technological tool for weed management and weed composting which ultimately enhance nutrient use efficiency. In horticulturally based weed management using of mango leaves as field mulch.



Weed Dr. R.P. Dubey (Principal Scientist and Incharge, AICRP-WM, DWR, Jabalpur) highlighted the need of resources conservation on Rice-Wheat cropping system and rotation of herbicide to manage the mimicry weeds.

Dr. J.S. Mishra, Director, DWR, Jabalpur, highlighted about weed management on aquatic and parasitic weeds. He also insisted to develop drone application and weed seed bank studies. To customize or stimulate the weed management technique, setup a weed management technical centre on each district.

Dr. Bhaskar (ADG Agroforestry and Climate change ICAR, New-Delhi) address accentuated the benefits of crop diversification studies in weed management and weed management in non-cropped area, transformation of conventional to modern advanced weed management practices.

The Annual Review Meet ended with vote of thanks by Dr. P. Murali Arthanari (Principal Investigator, TNAU).
