Confederation of All Traders Union agitate demanding Govt. to reconsider roll out of GST

Traders attached to Confederation All Traders Union staged an agitation demanding the Centre to reconsider the GST taxation regime which is being rolled out from July 1.

Led by Manikkam, District president of the Confederation the agitators said “The high taxes levied for certain goods and services would affect the prospect of small traders. More over the GST would help only MNC’s who have entered the country for trade” the protesters said.

Demanding the ban on narcotic drugs and contraceptive drugs, the agitators urged that the Government should come forward to sell life-saving drugs and ban online drug sale. The Government should come forward to minimize the toll collection on highways as it has affected the transport of goods the traders said and added that the toll collected in Kaiya toll plaza between Coimbatore and Tiruppur should be discontinued.
