The Coimbatore Chapter of “Art of Living Foundation" had commenced cleaning of Raja Canal which is connecting Noyyal river to 7 ponds and which plays an important role ground water recharging in the city .

The cleanup campaign has reached its final stage and the canal is thoroughly made free of garbage and it is ready for the South West monsoon. .The area has nearly 2000 acres of cultivation land and the farmers will be benefited with this initiative.

K.R.Damodaran State Teachers Coordinator (Tamil Nadu) while briefing the media said "Art of Living has initiated lake cleaning drive at Latur in Maharashtra giving life to the parched lakes. It was followed by rejuvenation many lakes across the southern part of India. In Coimbatore we are almost nearing the completion of cleaning Raja Vaikal.
We spent about Rs. 3 lakh rupees and a stretch of 12.5 kilometer was cleaned by volunteers.
On June 4th at 8 am we are going to complete the cleaning activity at "Chitirai Chavadi" check dam near Perur-Madhampatti involving volunteers from general public. .Coimbatore City Police have also extended their support to us. We request all the people of Coimbatore to come forward and join hands in this noble effort to make the Coimbatore lakes monsoon ready."
