Tamil Nadu government appoints Backward Classes Welfare Minister Sampath Kumar as Coimbatore District In-Charge Minister. The administrative initiative aims to strengthen coordination between state government and district administration in one of Tamil Nadu's key industrial and commercial centres.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday (June 3) announced the appointment of district in-charge ministers across the State as part of an administrative initiative aimed at strengthening coordination between the government and district administrations.

Under the new arrangement, Backward Classes Welfare Minister Sampath Kumar has been appointed as the In-Charge Minister for Coimbatore district, entrusting him with the responsibility of overseeing key administrative and developmental activities in one of Tamil Nadu’s most significant urban and industrial centres.

Sampath Kumar is among the two ministers from Coimbatore district currently serving in the State Cabinet. The other representative from the district is Vignesh, Minister for Prohibition and Excise. While both leaders continue to hold their respective ministerial portfolios, the government has designated Sampath Kumar to serve as the district’s coordinating minister, a role that carries considerable administrative significance.

As the district in-charge minister, Sampath Kumar will be responsible for facilitating coordination between the State government and the district administration, monitoring the implementation of welfare programmes, reviewing the progress of infrastructure and development projects, and ensuring the effective delivery of public services.

The appointment assumes added importance in the case of Coimbatore, widely regarded as one of Tamil Nadu’s foremost industrial, commercial, educational, and investment hubs. As a key driver of the State’s economy, the district requires sustained administrative attention and coordinated governance to support its continued growth and development.
