N. Tirunavukarasu aka Tiru, resides near Thondamuthur on the outskirts of Coimbatore. Finally Sainik School education helped him to shape his life. Tiru learned to become a perfect bean counter, thanks to his B.Sc (Statistics) from the PSG College of Arts and Science. He managed to learn how to count perfectly while pursuing his Management Education at the Bharathiar University. The itinerant life of Tiru made him to realize that commerce is global and capital is mobile. So, the alchemist in Tiru brought him back to Coimbatore. Now, Tiru is in hot pursuit of stock prices in order to offer the best to his clients. He has also understood investments can be artistic and He promotes Art on a regular basis.
Stocks and Stock –In-Trade motivated him to trek and travel around the world. The regular treks included visits to Topslip, Munnar and Pongaimedu. What began as a hobby, became an eye opener for it enabled Tiru to see and learn more about nature, wildlife and environment. At times, the leisurely trips undertaken as part of recreation aided and abetted Tiru to do better in the world of business.
Tiru has been fortunate to visit Singapore, where business takes place at the speed of” thought “to countries like Bhutan where the only “thought” is Gross National Happiness. “I began travelling for fun and little did I realize that one day I would be invited as a guest of the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation. The laidback holidays have really laid the foundation which is helping me to embark on a journey of different kind,” stated a cheerful Tiru.
This financially artistic businessman has been to a number of ASEAN and SAARC countries which include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam,Thailand,Nepal and Bhutan. Tiru was astonished to learn that Laos had to harvest more of the bombs than Vietnam during the American intervention in South east Asia. He understood that there was more to Cambodia than Angkor Wat, “ I was shocked to learn that Pol Pot had torture chambers for his own citizens! The gruesome methods and tools used by the Dictator were terrible. The citizens were treated like poultry and meat while being tortured. A number of mechanical tools were used to inflict pain. Millions suffered while another million perished. Finally, I understood that adamant ideology came in the way of peaceful co-existence,” added Tiru.
Tiru was able to observe that the people of Vietnam truly understood the value of time and economic prosperity due to their involvement in long term strife. “The people of Indonesia are really fun loving. Tensions are alien to them. I was happy to notice that the country which hosted live volcanoes did not cause eruptions in the lives of the people. The Mahabharat temples for the Pandavas in Indonesia are visited by the residents of Bali in Indonesia. Neighbouring Nepal is a good country to visit. It is the land of the child Goddess and the eternal source for Shaligrams and Rudrakshas. It was an eye opener for me when I learnt that the people of Bhutan preferred monarchy to democracy!,” shared an ebullient Tiru.
The Mekong riverboat cruise in Laos was real life experience which did not end up in horror. “We were totally 120 people of different nationalities on this trip. Suddenly by 4.30 pm, the boat engine failed and all of us were struck on the banks of the river. While some of the Spanish travelers took to partying a number of others stayed quiet. However I got worried for I had just read about some drug peddlers belonging to a powerful cartel moving all over Laos. My worries increased when I noticed one of the co-passengers communicating in whispers. It took us more than 14 hours to get out of the crisis. It was the ingenuity of the whispering German which helped in solving the problem and the cruise became mobile again”, said Tiru.
Tiru has also visited a number of exotic places in India. He finds the Nathula Pass to be interesting. Recently he had the opportunity to see the river Teesta at Sikkim. “ My experiences in the northern part of our country have been really good. Be it the glaciers at Gangotri and Yamunotri or the Nandadevi peak, every inch of our country is simply fabulous. In fact, India is one of the few countries where one can get to see every aspect of nature and cultural diversity. We should make sure that we get to see India while we also go around the world. This vast country should never be missed, “ smiled Tiru while signing off.
