2017 Hyundai Verna gets many segment first features, intensifies competition


Hyundai Motor India will launch the Verna on 22nd August 2017 and has begun the pre-bookings at Rs 25,000. The company aims to sell about 4,500 units in the domestic market every month and is planning to export about 60,000 units annually.

2017 Hyundai Verna 

Hyundai is all set to launch its new generation Verna sedan in India late this month and the company has already showcased the new Verna will come with many segment first features ensuring to stay ahead of the competition like Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. The fifth generation Hyundai Verna is built on company’s ‘super body structure’ built on 50% advance high strength steel that has helped the new Verna to improve its performance along with safety. The car gets a new chassis and has undergone structural changes making the car safer. Overall dimensions of the car have changed to offer better dynamics while driving and also the increased width and height has resulted in more space and better shoulder room for the rear seat passengers. Hyundai India has worked towards adding many segment first features which the competition does not offer. Inside the cabin, the top-variants of 2017 Hyundai Verna gets front-ventilated seats, rear curtains and for the first time the company is introducing eco coating that helps to control and eliminate foul smell from the cabin to keep it fresh. Hyundai Verna top variants will be offered with six airbags, rear parking sensors. For extra comfort, Hyundai Verna now gets a rear A/C vent, 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with voice recognition.

For the first time, Hyundai Verna will get an option of Hands free boot lid which the company calls it hands free smart trunk that will allow the passengers or the drivers to open the fifth door just by waving at the sensor. The car will also get an electric sunroof.  On the exteriors, Hyundai Verna gets a dynamic design language very similar to what we have already seen on Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Tucson. It features a cascade design front grille, projector headlamps and fog lamps with LED DRLs and LED tail lamps. Like the Honda City, the new Verna will also get shark-fin antenna.

Hyundai Verna is built on the new K2 platform and is powered by 1.6L petrol and diesel engines and a option of both manual and automatic transmission on both the engine option variants. Hyundai Motor India will launch the Verna on 22nd August 2017 and has begun the pre-bookings at Rs 25,000. The company aims to sell about 4,500 units in the domestic market every month and is planning to export about 60,000 units annually. Globally, over 8.8 million Hyundai Verna has been sold in about 66 countries and the company has sold about 3.17 lakh units in India.
