NSS camp at Gudalur - Coimbatore college students participate enthusiastically

A special NSS camp was held from March 7 to 13 at South Palayam under Gudalur Municipality. The students of Avinashilingam College of Home Science from Coimbatore participated enthusiastically. They also provided welfare assistance to the anganwadi centre on the last day of the event.n.



The Nilgiris: More than 50 college students from Coimbatore enthusiastically participated in the NSS camp held at Gudalur in the Nilgiris district.

A special NSS camp was held at Thekkupalayam under Gudalur Municipality. The camp was organised by Avinashilingam Institute of Home Science and Women's Higher Education, Coimbatore, Department of Home Design, Management, Food Service Management and Food Systems Department Group No.1 from March 7 to 13.

More than 50 students participated in this special camp along with NSS officers Sakthidevi and Dr. S. Karthika and conducted various programmes.



A household survey, awareness on yoga, kolam competition for women on the occasion of International Women's Day, cooking competition and elocution competitions were also conducted.

In addition to this, park cleaning, home gardening, chart making for children's centre, sports competitions for boys and girls, awareness on small savings and self-employment were also conducted.

In particular, a special medical camp conducted for the people of the village conducted various tests including health check-up, blood sugar level test, blood pressure test, eye test, ear, nose, throat test, etc., and dietary advice were conducted very well. More than 100 villagers participated in the camp and benefited.



A sapling planting ceremony was held at Kennedy area next to Thekkupalayam.



An awareness rally on water harvesting and Swachh Bharat was also organised by the students.



On the last day of the function, Gudalur Municipality President Arivarasu participated and congratulated the students of the country's welfare schemes. The NSS students also distributed welfare assistance to the anganwadi centre including bureau, notebooks, stationery and buckets.

City council members Muruganantham and Keerthana Udhayakumar and others were present on the occasion.
