‘Thendral - 2023’, International Women’s Day Celebrations organized at Karpagam Group of Institutions

'Kalaimamani' Manimegalai emphasized the importance of women engaging in ‘Kolam’ as an early morning exercise for their physical and mental well-being


Coimbatore: The Karpagam College of Engineering, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, and Karpagam Nursing College came together to celebrate “Thendral – 2023”, International Women’s Day Celebrations, and the function aimed at honoring the Inspirational women of the city

The function was inaugurated with a welcome note by Dr S. Deepa, the Coordinator of Women Cell Development.



The dignitaries present lighted the lamp to commence the event, and the Principals of the three institutions, Dr P. Vijayakumar, Principal, Karpagam College of Engineering, Dr During the Women’s day function, Mohan, Principal, Karpagam College of Pharmacy, and Prof. Sudha, Principal, Karpagam Nursing College have been felicitated on the occasion.



The stage was graced by the presence of 'Kalaimamani' Manimegalai and Dr Godhanavalli, who were the special invitees to the event and were presented with the "Kovai’s Inspiring Woman" award.

Addressing the audience, 'Kalaimamani' Manimegalai emphasized the importance of women engaging in ‘Kolam’ as an early morning exercise for their physical and mental well-being.

She also emphasized the importance of day-to-day chores in maintaining better health.

Dr Godhanavalli, a social activist, spoke about the significance of a disciplined college life Dr. Annam, Professor at Karpagam Nursing College, proposed the vote of thanks.

In the next session, Dr P. Sharnita, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research, Coimbatore, delivered a guest lecture on “Stress Management”.



Various events were organized for both female students and faculty members, which were enthusiastically participated by all.

In the valedictory ceremony function, Dr V. Rajeshwari, the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Karpagam College of Engineering, welcomed the gathering.

E. Nagarathnam from “Vimuktha” Federations was presented with Coimbatore’s Inspiring Woman award by Kokila, the Deputy Collector, Coimbatore.

In her address, Nagarathnam emphasized the importance of leading a healthy and simple life.

Deputy Collector Kokila was presented with a memento by the Principals of the three institutions.

Kokila in her speech motivated the gathering by sharing her own journey in becoming a Deputy Collector and highlighted that focus and confidence are crucial for women.

She also emphasized the importance of having supportive males in our lives.



The winners of the various events were appreciated by presenting the prize and medals.
